Katy Binks

Based in London, Katy Binks is a multi-disciplinary artist with a broad and colourful creative practice specialising in prints and site specific paintings.

 

Katy’s rich graphic palette is informed by a questioning and experimental spirit, exploring the relationships between colour, shape, volume and proportion, as well as engaging with architecture and the urban environment. More recently, she has been exploring a looser, more intuitive approach to printmaking. This new sense of freedom has invigorated her practice to such an extent that it now has more in common with painting than with edition-led printmaking.

Katy harnesses the inherent playfulness of printmaking to create compositions that land in the space between intention and opportunity. Not concerned with precision and instead celebrates the texture that the screenprinting process can generate. By using slightly blocked screens, poorly registered layers, and wonky lines she creates works that are full of texture and intrigue.
