John Dilnot
John has enjoyed exploring different media and processes since childhood. His curiosity led him to attempt screen printing at home in his parent’s garage with a piece of net curtain and an old window frame. Not discouraged by the dreadful mess, he had the screen print bug.
Dilnot studied graphic Design at Canterbury College of Art, followed by Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art in the early 1980’s. John focused on screen printing, exploring sequential imagery, which led to his first artists’ books. John’s particular interest is exploring our relationship with nature. A recent screen print, Forecast, depicts a variety of oversized rainy weather symbols which are overpowering tiny cottages set in a pastoral landscape. The subject is not only the weather but also the changing patterns and unpredictability caused by climate change and the power that nature can impose upon us.
